Environmental Stewardship
-from Kathie Brown At my office, I encouraged them to do away with Styrofoam cups. For a short time, they went to some other type of disposable cup, but we have now done away with those completely and everyone was given a china cup with the company name. In my job, I coordinate meetings and incentive trips for companies. At least in domestic locations, we are encouraging our clients to have water stations (with pitchers or large dispensers and glasses) rather than bottled water. Two of my clients did this for meetings this winter.
Back Porch Pickin'
Join us this Wednesday, June 18th at 7:00 pm in our Parish Hall for an old-fashioned get-together to play some music. THis is open to anyone with a stringed instrument or a voice or just a love of old folk songs. Sheet music and refreshments will be provided. Of course you are welcome to bring copies to share of any songs that are near and dear to you.
Summer Schedule Begins
With the month of June, St George's begins its summer schedule of Sunday services and weekday office hours. On Sundays we will offer one service of Holy Eucharist according to Rite II at 9:00am. Childcare in the nursery begins at 8:45am. Following the service, Dwelling in the Word will be available for those who wish to share further reflection on the scriptures of the day. The Parish Office will be open from 9:00am to 2:30pm Monday through Thursday during the months of June, July, and August. Although the office will be closed on Fridays, important messages can still be left on the office voicemail system, or sent to office staff via email. The regular schedule of two Sunday services and Monday through Friday office hours will resume in September. Enjoy the summer!
Reaching Out
You never know when an opportunity for spiritual growth will occur
or where it will come from. It might happen during an encounter
at the water cooler, a sales call, on the plant floor or in the
board room. I might happen while you're walking around the lake
or taking a bike ride. Or, maybe you'll find a moment of grace while
serving food to the homeless or pounding a nail for Habitat for
Humanity. At St. George's, we have discussion groups and classes
to help you understand those opportunities, opportunities to give
back to the community, and fun recreational events. To find out
more, or to sign-up for a group, class, activity or service opportunity,
