Pentecost in the Park

Pentecost is this Sunday - May 27, 2007

St. George's will bust out of our building for a special celebration outdoors in the park. The 10:30 a.m. service will be at Oak Hill Park just south of Minnetonka Blvd. on Rhode Island Ave. S (map).

Bring food for a picnic, a folding chair and wear something red.

See you in the park!

In the case of rain, the service will be held as usual in the church.

Theology and a Pint, 5.22.07

Enemies: should we pray for terrorists?

How do we as people of faith or people who are seeking a spiritual life respond to enemies? What does scripture say about dealing with people that we don't like or that don't like us? We'll look at this from several vantage points and discuss enemies in both global and local contexts.

When: Tuesday, May 22nd, 8:00pm
Where: Kip's Irish Pub (Just West of 394 & Hwy 169)
9970 Wayzata Blvd, St. Louis Park (http://www.kipspub.com/)

Theology & a Pint is a monthly gathering and casual discussion for anyone interested in exploring the intersection of faith, god, culture and politics.

Education Program Schedule

Our Grown-Up "Sunday School" program takes place each Sunday between services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

MAY 6
Topic: Five Spiritual Journeys for Later Life
Speaker: Rev. Kay Provine

Kay is the chaplain for Episcopal Homes in St. Paul and will be sharing ways for us to find spiritual renewal and vitality as we grow older. Although this will be particularly interesting for our older members, everyone can benefit from exploring how the process of aging impacts our spirituality and faith.

MAY 13
Topic: Conflict in the Anglican Communion
Speakers: Rev. Paul Nancarrow

As a deputy to General Convention, Paul has been part of making church history. The Anglican Communion is at a historic juncture with threats of schism and global politics. Come hear what all the fuss is about and get an overview of what's at stake.

MAY 20
Topic: Immigration: An Overview
Speakers: Representatives from ISAIAH

Immigration has been in the news a lot lately. Who are the immigrants that are coming to Minnesota? Why do they come? What's at stake? This will be a good opportunity to get your questions answered and go beyond the headlines to learn the facts and figures.

I hope you'll come for all the sessions and tell your friends!

Reaching Out
You never know when an opportunity for spiritual growth will occur or where it will come from. It might happen during an encounter at the water cooler, a sales call, on the plant floor or in the board room. I might happen while you're walking around the lake or taking a bike ride. Or, maybe you'll find a moment of grace while serving food to the homeless or pounding a nail for Habitat for Humanity. At St. George's, we have discussion groups and classes to help you understand those opportunities, opportunities to give back to the community, and fun recreational events. To find out more, or to sign-up for a group, class, activity or service opportunity, click here.
